Traditional Shaolin Kung Fu is at the heart of Chinese culture, Kung Fu in general is passed down through generations of family members where skills are inherited and polished by each and every individual practitioner. Kung Fu from Shaolin Temple is depicted as a more spiritual practice although the techniques inside the forms (sets of movements/sequences) have an application a real self defence purpose the underlying principle is that we cultivate the mind through Kung Fu so that we would never have to use the skill, our body language and confidence would speak for us and that would be how we could communicate with a foe. We would never use Martial Arts as a platform to show off and boost our ego as this is not the true meaning taught to us by our Masters (Shifu:师父), we can use the skill to help others or ourselves in certain situations. At Shaolin Lotus as well as most Chinese Kung Fu schools we aim to promote the martial culture’s countless positive aspects, upon how the health of the body can be improved and maintained by each individual be them young or old, traditional Martial Arts are the key to honing the skills of the body and mind.
